We failed as engineers

My past experience with other people

I geniunely think that we failed to gatekeep engineering. I have done engineering a lot, counting at 13 years. During that, I have seen a lot and met people who passionately love engineering. I have seen people winning hackatons, competitions, building good shit or even programming good shit. I also think that they deserve the good payment or jobs they received, but that is only a bonus. The DID NOT train because of the good salary. The trained from passion. I am not that good of an engineer but I did learn programming in elementary school and from then, I build everything: Operating systems, search engines, tons of games (52+ at the moment), electrical circuit simulations and participated and even won competitions.
Now in university, I see lots of kinds of people. I seen the top of the top, but most importantly, I have seen the ones who do not find engineering interesting. These kind of people use AI to cheat on exams or the build high-level slop to gain popularity. The main problem is that these people ARE the most successful in the scene in terms of visibility. They have no real knowledge, but they proceed to get viral with slop. For todays people, knowledge is not important, I feel.

Gatekeeping

Engineering should be gatekept at all costs and should only be reserved for the talented and hard working people. Being smart in a todays world is like swimming in the ocean. You can swing your arms, your legs however you can but eventually you will sink beneath the more simpler particles. This should be stopped. A bunch of idiots have swarmed engineering. Not just IT, everything. Mediocrity has poisoned these branches. Computer engineering is hard and the barrier of entry should also be hard. If a doctor uses chatgpt midst surgery and it gets out, he is done for. But if a critical systems engineer uses AI and it screws off the whole infrastructure, then he gets away with ANYTHING. In my eyes this is outrageous and disgusting. It is killing the respect from out job and more, from our passion. Stupid people taking the high paying jobs of the more talented and passionate people. It is because that the stupid, undereducated HR or DEI hiring sees a talented person, they get jealous. When others see a taller, prettier, richer person, they cling to him. The moment they spot someone smarter than them: Hatred emerges. The education system twarts the children into "learning". But this is all bullshit. They don't learn anything useful, and opportunists who don't care about others will take their jobs. If we want for CE to live as a profession, gatekeeping is necessary.

Solution

The weakest links need to be rooted out. DO NOT EVER ALLOW someone into tech who is not neurally capable enough. Fight! Don't let stupid people in, don't just share information freely, share information at a price. Gatekeep as much information as possible! Store them privately and on your site so idiots on the centralized web can not see or access it. Make tarpits and fight against AI scraping. Anyone who does not like this job should be banned from any related activities. Your time will come, wait for the great reset, the day where the internet will be conquered by AI. Then, the mentally weak will be purged from it and it shall return to its old state. Long live the dead internet theory!
